Clinical Research Trials
Atlantic Health is a Major Clinical Research Affiliate of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) - New Jersey's only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. This affiliation gives our patients access to the latest clinical trials and treatments available through the national Cooperative Oncology Groups and the pharmaceutical industry. Patients may be eligible to participate in national clinical trials of new treatments, while remaining under the care of their community physicians. The Carol G. Simon Cancer Center is committed to translating significant research results into effective new treatment options for cancer patients. Participating in a clinical study gives eligible patients early access to promising new treatment and is considered the highest standard of care when it is available, often at no cost. However, not all patients are eligible for available studies as eligibility criteria are unique to each study. Transitioning a new therapy from the laboratory to the bedside is a complicated process requiring management by professionals trained in clinical investigation. The Carol G. Simon Cancer Center handles a portfolio of studies for all types of cancer, including National Cancer Institute Cooperative Group studies, American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ASOSOG), Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG), National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, Gynecologic Oncology Group, Children's Cancer Study Group, pharmaceutical studies, and special institutional studies designed by our clinical investigators or those at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey. |
